Windows 7 DreamScene Activator: Activate DreamScene in Windows 7

Windows 7 DreamScene Activator is a free tiny portable tool that activates DreamScene in Windows 7. DreamScene is a feature that allows users to set any video in WMV/MPG format as the desktop wallpaper. This feature was included in Windows Vista but was removed in Windows 7.

How to use:

  1. Run the tool as administrator.

  2. Click Enable DreamScene. It will now copy the required files and add the necessary registry keys & values. Then it will restart Windows Explorer & DreamScene will be enabled.

  3. Right-Click on any video in WMV/MPG format and select Set as desktop background. Now the selected video will be set as the desktop wallpaper.

    Movies seem to work fine, but I downloaded a couple of .dream files, and they don't seem to work on my 32-bit Windows 7 Enterprise machine.

    This tool doesn't work with .dream files. .dream files are only supported by Stardock DeskScape.

    after running the program my windows explorer restarted but there is no “set as background” option where i right click on a wmv or an mpg file..

    Is there any way to get the video to loop? Dream Scene works on my 64-bit Windows 7, but it only runs through the video once. Am I missing something?

    The video should loop automatically. Send me the DreamScene that you are trying to apply.

    Nope. Now it's now looping again. I've tried with Deviant art such as the Brokeh and also with one of my own videos — both wmv files.

    Great work! How can I control if it pauses when an application is maximized? I do not want it to pause.

    If you do that, it will take up too much memory and other apps will not be able to work properly.

    I have ATI quad core and 2 – ATI HD 3870's in crossfire supporting 2 monitors. I can handle it. I can manually unpause with a maximized window and have no issues. Is there really no option to turn off the pausing by default?

    Kishan, i've installed your dream scene activator as instructed, ( I think) i open it as admin and click enable dreamscene i get a windows warning and I click continue and your windows 7 DreamScene Activator v1.1 option window pops up I click enable dreamscene after a second i see explorer restart and i right click a .wmv file but there is no option to set as desktop background only play or add to media play list What did I do wrong? thanks how is married life, everything pretty awesome, I hope you both are loving life and each other.     When I Want geniune my Windows with DreamScene , The Validate Page show me this Message ” Install genuine Windows now.
    Windows running on this PC is not genuine. To resolve, you must install genuine Windows now. We can help you with that. ”

    How do I remove this program completely? Ever since running it, my desktop takes 10 times as long to load. I deleted the exe and W7DSA folder, but the slowdown continues and I still have the “Play Dreamscene” item in my desktop context menu. Can you please help me “uninstall” this software? (Since it’s not registered in my Control Panel, I can’t uninstall it properly.

    Thanks for any help you can give.

    Just click Disable DreamScene.
