How To Change Your Logon Screen’s Button & Text Style in Windows 7

This tutorial is a part of the How To Edit Your Logon Screen in Windows 7 (Tutorial Series)

  1. Type REGEDIT in start menu search box or run and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to the following registry key:
  3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI

  4. Right-Click on the right-side pane and select New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value.

  5. HostGator (Use coupon - door2windows)

  6. Type ButtonSet as the DWORD’s value name.
  7. Double-Click on the DWORD value called ButtonSet.
  8. In the Value Data box, type according to the style you want:
    • 0 – Light text shadows & dark buttons (Default)
    • 1 – Dark text shadows & light buttons
    • 2 – No text shadows & opaque buttons

  9. Click OK. Now log-off or switch user to see the new button & text style.
