    Good Job. Keep it up.

Hello, I haven't tried yet, but if it works then good job! :)

Since I tried to find how to remove this damn button since months, I'm interested by how you did that, can you please share your source code, or something that could help me?

  • http://www.door2windows.com/ Kishan Bagaria

    Please try the program.

  • happy

It works, but there is an unused space where was the button. Could you possibly add an option to remove that space, or better, a rule so we can move the tray zone to the right, as much pixels as we wish ?

Also I noticed the button still show for few seconds after the desktop is loaded, so I'm wondering, what does your program exactly do? Does it patch a dll everytime the system is restarted, or whatever?

  • http://www.door2windows.com/ Kishan Bagaria

The space will be removed in the next version. The program removes the show desktop button every time the system is restarted.

You are so helpful. I used IDA to get my answers.

What did you find happy? Does it inject code in the kernel memory space?

  • http://www.door2windows.com/ Kishan Bagaria

    Nope

    Nope

How does this work? Does Windows 7 Show Desktop Button Remover have to run as a process in the background?

  • http://www.door2windows.com/ Kishan Bagaria

Once you run the tool and click on Remove, it will remove the show desktop button and add itself to the startup. Now if you even close the tool, the show desktop button will not be there. After you restart your computer, the tool will run silently, remove the show desktop button & close itself.

This is awesome, I see that you said in the next version of this the space will be removed and since that space is just a little annoying, when will the next version be released?

  • Justin

Ohh and another thing I noticed is that you don't even have to keep the program afterwards which is a plus as it also saves some precious hard drive space! Still awesome program, I love it!

  • http://www.door2windows.com/ Kishan Bagaria

Okay, I will release it in this week itself.

  • Justin

    Okay awesome thanks!

  • Jakester

Hey Justin, do you know if he has released the new version of this yet?

  • Justin

    Not that I know of.

  • JGWentworth

Thanks a lot. That little bugger was annoying

  • picklecow10

How exactly do you get rid of this? I was using it for a little bit but now I'm finished and I can't figure out what to do.

  • Sean

How can I have “Show Desktop” permanently?

  • Bkurzius

This is a great tool. Is there also a way to disable the “Show Desktop” item when you right click the taskbar?

the main reason I had wanted to remove this icon was to regain the lost space…. I’d really love to see a version which accomplishes this goal… I’m not sure if you have abandoned this particular project or not, I can see the blog post dates back to may but I cannot see how outdated these comment replies are. if anyone knows if this project has been abandoned for good or not I’d appreciate knowing, otherwise I’ll have the desire to keep checking back in the hope of regaining that tiny little corner of space.

Heyy  ,  how can i change what it makes , i want it to be Flip3D instead of showing the desktop , is there any way , if so please email me on … UAE017@hotmail.com .. and thanks ALOOT  ;)

  • Jou

    I hate this button :D
Used the remover but after update to sp1 it stopped working, the button is back :(
Is there any way to kill this button for ever and ever?
    Thanks.

  • Ddjusd

Any chance in this getting an update to make it compatible? I hate the button. I don’t want it to be there. Every time I use this, it gets rid of it by satisfaction but does not remove it after a reboot.

  • bobsobol

Any chance of a version of this that works? I mean, I’ve tried it lots of times on my system and my friends (we all hate that thing) we have different builds (I started with the 7100RC and now run HP, my wife has Business, my friend has Ultimate)  and it doesn’t work on any of them “properly”. One just makes every “notification” become the “Show Desktop”, both of my systems just push the button half way off the end of the screen, and the last one (I don’t remember which way) seemed make it invisible, but still took up the same screen space and preview function still worked. (at least my systems it makes only take half the screen space it did before)

We all want this feature so badly, but this tool doesn’t work… as it should. It usually does something, but not quite what it should.

Lol.. precious hard disk space.. It’s just 81 KB. Put in perspective of a 320 GB hard disk that’s now standard on every laptop, it’s a tiny speck of dust in a large bedroom.
