Windows 7 Start Button Changer: Change Your Windows 7 Start Button With One Click

Windows 7 Start Button Changer is a free tiny portable tool that allows you to change your Windows 7 start orb/button with just one click.

How to use:

  1. Run the tool as administrator. If you have run this tool for the first time then it will create a backup of the unmodified “explorer.exe“.

  2. Click Select & Change Start Button. When it asks for the new start orb bitmap, either choose from any of the sample start orb bitmaps provided or choose the one you have.

  3. The Windows Explorer will now restart automatically and you will be able to see the new start orb/button which you chose.

If you want to revert to the original start orb then just click Restore Original Explorer Backup.

The credits of the 10 sample start orb bitmaps has been mentioned in the Credits.txt file in the 10 Sample Orbs folder.

    Nice application! However, I have gotten to the point where it refuses to change the start orb. I open it in admin mode and select an orb to change to. It appears to accept the change as the display area on the app shows the new theme, but when explorer restarts the old orb is still there.

    Do the following:
    - Make sure that the program is closed.
    - Manually take ownership of “C:Windowsexplorer.exe” – Tutorial Link
    - Run the program and select the orb. It will now work.

    There are no samples in archive just the application.

    I second what “Crishi” said, I was going crazy looking for the bitmaps because the only thing in the archive was the exe. What happened to the orbs??

    Hello… Everything is OK ..but – after changing ORG – there is no animation – there’s just one,still bitmap… pls help
